The Ministry of Culture and Internal Affairs (MCIA) hosted its Christmas Party last Thursday evening, 11th December 2025 at te Nimanraoi Maneaba in Betio. The celebration was more special and memorable with the presence of Local Governments’ Mayors from the 23 Island Councils and families of staff from TUC, BTC and the MCIA.
The MCIA Family combined Christmas party for 2025 was not only very special but historical. No one will forget such merry night because of the attendance of Local Governments’ leaders who came to the Capital Tarawa for the KLGA (Kiribati Local Government Association) 7th Mayoral Forum. It was also the first time in the history of the MCIA that a combined Christmas Celebration was organized as a get-together event for the MCIA family that included the mother ministry MCIA, and the urban Island Councils of Teinainano (TUC) and Betio (BTC). In his opening remarks, the Honourable Minister for Culture and Internal Affairs (MCIA), Mr. Harry Tekaiti expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the mayors for making the occasion extra special.
The MCIA Family celebrated their Christmas with local and Pacific Dancing and a lot of food that was personally provided by staff and their leaders. Witnesses for the special evening included the Honourable Minister for Culture and Internal Affairs Harry Tekaiti and spouse Mrs. Meaua Tekaiti; Local Governments’ Leaders from the 23 Island Councils; Councilors from TUC and BTC; the Secretary MCIA Mr. Bwereti Tewareka and spouse Mrs. Aritika Tewareka; and MCIA Heads of Departments.
